Ways to support our event

On December 16, 2024, the Caranci family experienced an unimaginable loss when their son, Dante, was involved in a tragic school bus crossing accident. His passing has left a lasting impact, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of child safety and the shared responsibility to protect one another.

In his honour, the family established the Dante Caranci Foundation, a reflection of the kindness, generosity, and spirit Dante brought to those around him. The Foundation is guided by two core pillars: providing children with access to organized sport, regardless of financial barriers, and supporting families navigating the loss of a child. Through this work, it aims to foster confidence, connection, and community, while offering meaningful support to those who need it most.

Through our Foundation, we hope to help children experience the same confidence, teamwork, and happiness that sports gave Dante, while also offering support to families who are navigating the unimaginable loss of a child. This work is deeply personal to us, and it is guided by Dante’s spirit every step of the way.

our mission

learn more

Established in loving memory of Dante Adriano Caranci to honour his life, his spirit, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. Dante’s love for sport and his kindness toward others has become the heart of our foundation and we seek to ensure that Dante’s legacy continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

meet dante

Dante was a beloved son, brother, teammate, classmate, and friend, whose joy was felt everywhere he went.

He was his big brother Vinny’s best friend, truly inseparable and always side by side. Gentle and easy-going, Dante wanted everyone around him to be happy. He was kind, loving, and endlessly funny, with a contagious laugh and smile that filled every room with light. Dante completed our family.

A true boy’s boy, Dante loved sports, especially hockey, roller hockey, soccer, and fishing. He was naturally talented at everything he played and approached each game with confidence and determination. Often playing up an age level alongside Vinny, Dante proudly kept up with the big boys.

In his final soccer season, although still a minor on his U8 team, he helped lead his team to a championship. Watching him lift that trophy, beaming with pride, is a memory we will cherish forever. We always believed Dante was destined for big things and dreamed of one day watching him play in the NHL for his favourite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He proudly played hockey with the Lambeth Lancers U9 MD2, soccer with the Lambeth Youth Soccer League U8 Coed (Blue Team Castell Homes), and was a Grade 2 student at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Elementary School in Delaware. Whether on the ice, the field, or in the classroom, Dante showed up with heart, enthusiasm, and an infectious smile. At school, Dante was everyone’s friend.

Dante loved lego. his stuffed animals, fishing with his brother, soccer, hockey, football, and playing video games like Fortnite and NHL 25. He loved his teammates, his classmates, his friends, and above all, his family.

To advance youth participation in organized sports by reducing financial barriers

initiatives of our foundation

We are dedicated to ensuring that all children have access to organized sports, regardless of financial barriers. We believe that sport is a powerful vehicle for personal growth, fostering confidence, teamwork, discipline, and a strong sense of belonging. These values played a meaningful role in Dante’s life, providing him with joy, purpose, and connection. By removing financial barriers, the Foundation seeks to extend these same opportunities to children who might otherwise be excluded.

The work of the Dante Caranci Foundation is carried forward through a series of thoughtfully developed initiatives that reflect both purpose and impact. Each initiative has been created with intention, grounded in lived experience, and guided by a commitment to support children, families, and communities in meaningful and lasting ways:

To provide support and resources to families affected by the loss of a child

To promote public awareness and education related to child safety

We are committed to offering compassion and support to families who have experienced the profound loss of a child. Recognizing that grief can be deeply isolating, the Foundation strives to provide comfort, resources, and a supportive community to families during their most difficult moments, reflecting Dante’s gentle spirit and deep love for family.

We work to promote child safety awareness, including the importance of school bus safety. Through education and advocacy, the Dante Caranci Foundation aims to help prevent future tragedies and contribute to safer communities for children.
